Augustine, the United Church's first Affirming Congregation

On February 26, 1995, Augustine United Church became the first Affirming Congregation in The United Church of Canada.
As an Affirming congregation, Augustine is a community that welcomes and supports gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and two-spirited (GLBTT) people in all aspects of the life, work and worship of the church.  We believe that all people are children of God, that persons of all ages, races and sexual orientations are part of our increasingly diverse culture; and we welcome all persons into the full life and ministry of the church.
Many members of the GLBTT community have found Augustine to be a safe place to worship and share gifts.
Augustine United Church proudly marches in the Pride Parade each year behind a banner proclaiming who we are. Many of our members are also present at community events in support of the GLBTT community.
Augustine is fully supportive of Affirm United as we strive to continue to be supportive and accepting of all who enter. Please visit their website www.affirmunited.ca to learn more.
